- Aerospace & Defense: Los Angeles Air Force Base (LAAFB) supports 6,296 direct jobs, contributing $1.8 billion annually to the regional economy. SBACC advocates for sustained federal funding, workforce development initiatives, and policies that drive aerospace innovation.
- Port Modernization: The San Pedro Bay Ports Complex processes $500 billion in goods annually, supporting 1.85 million jobs regionally and 5 million jobs nationwide. SBACC champions infrastructure upgrades, streamlined operations, and environmental sustainability to enhance supply-chain efficiency and global competitiveness.
- Energy Sector: South Bay refineries, such as the Torrance Refinery, employ 600 full-time workers and support an additional 300-500 contractors daily, with each direct refinery job creating 15 indirect jobs across California. - Hospitality & Tourism: The South Bay’s beach cities generate $2 billion annually in tourism revenue, supporting over 25,000 jobs in hotels, restaurants, and local attractions. SBACC works to promote policies that sustain this vital sector while enhancing visitor experiences.
- Small Business Support: Small businesses account for over 85% of employers in the South Bay region. SBACC works to shield small businesses from excessive taxes, fees, and compliance costs while promoting access to grants, tax relief programs, and other resources that help them thrive.
